China girl

Seeing that the recent topics once more drifted into Chinese territory, here is another one which fits in. David Bowie is one of my all-time favourite artists based on his output from the late sixties to the mid eighties : six of the songs from that time made my hall of fame (about 650 pop/rock/ballad songs that I consider the best of all time). And a lot of others are good enough to be MP3 player worthy. Here we have one from the latter category. China girl was writen by David Bowie and Iggy Popp, and it was first recorded by the latter in 1977. However, it was Bowie's version from 1983 that hit the charts, reaching the top 10 in both the UK and the USA. Accompanied by a great video, in line with the popularity of the early MTV years, this is one of the last really great songs that he turned out. A warning about the video: it does have some nudity. And maybe not the type that you might expect or hope for of an uncensored version of a song called China girl...
Art Rock score: 8/10 (great song, I'd put it on my MP3 player)
