The red house

The German painter August Macke (1887-1914) is often mentioned in the same line as his contemporary Franz Marc. Apart from the slight similarity of the names, both were leading expressionist artists of their time and both fell in the Great War. I love the bold colours in his work, which nods to the French Fauvism as well as the German Blue Rider group. More on Macke in the wikipedia article linked to below.
