Chinese ink

The art (and craft) of making Chinese ink drawings is not often encountered outside China. My wife is a professional artist, who learned this technique at the University of Beijing, but applies it to more modern themes than the traditional Chinese landscapes and birds - in addition to her colourful oil paintings that I am usualy posting in this topic. One of the intriguing features of this technique is that it has to be first time right: if the stroke is not immediately spot on, you can throw it away and start anew. A small sample of her Chinese ink is given in the quadruptych above.
