Dragon

My favourite shot of the past few months, and judging from comments and faves, probably the closest I have come to making Flickr Explore for the 52nd time. In the end, it got an even better recognition: my Flickr friend Rick (Word Artist) included it in his excellent blog on composition, with the following comment: "As seems to be the general theme of late, it is the simplicity of this image that is its strength. A shape – barely a silhouetted outline – distorted by the ripples of a watered reflection, gives us the dream of power: of the dragon rampant. The simple use of form to convey this feeling should be enough, and it is. But this image takes that a step further, adding a powerful leading line/diagonal to the mix (out of the bottom left corner). Additionally, the overall crop makes excellent use of golden ratios. Pure, stark power." It is of course the reflection of a branch in water, post-processed to b&w to get an oriental feeling - like a Chinese ink painting of a dragon.
