Dancing barefoot

I was amazed to read on another site that American singer/song writer Patti Smith turned 65 last week - how time flies indeed. She may have had her biggest hit in 1978 with Because the night, but Dancing barefoot from the 1979 album Wave is even stronger. Rarely has the overwhelming feeling of falling in love (reflecting her recent real life marriage) been described so beautifully: "Here I go and I don't know why - I spin so ceaselessly, till I lose my sense of gravity... ". Throw in a great melody and effective instrumentation (great guitar riffs), and you get one of the better songs of the late seventies. Art Rock score: 9/10 (very strong song, one of 650 best songs of all time).
