Repost: Oscar Niemeyer Museum Curitiba

A re-post from the artchives (original posting date 18 December 2009) - with the blog in its current form over four years old, I intend to dig up some of the older posts once in a while. This one is dedicated to Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, who died yesterday, a few days before his 105th birthday.

Here is one of his most remarkable creations, the postmodern Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, Brazil. The museum occupies two buildings, both designed by Niemeyer: a sprawling construction in straight lines dating back to 1967 and the Annex, built in 2002 and commonly known as the Eye.
