Poppy harvest

Shortly after its completion, the art installation Blood swept lands and seas of red by Paul Cummins and Tom Piper (blogged here) is now being dismantled, each of the 888,246 hand-made ceramic flowers being harvested, packed and sold. Part of me thinks this is a pity, part of me agrees with the logic by the artists:"this was never intended to last, it reflected the young lives who were lost on a tragic scale". As always, all rights retained by the photographer (Undisclosed/Getty Images).
