The Made in China project

The linked art-icle is a really interesting read, which makes you think. The Dulwich Picture Gallery replaced one of its paintings (by Jean-Honoré Fragonard) by a copy made to order in China. They then told the visitors that one painting was replaced by a copy, but not which one. The challenge was to discover which one was the copy in the exhibition. About 10% of the visitors got it right, but the curator noted a vast increase of number of visitors and a clear increase of interest in looking at each painting. Full story in the link - the gif that I created shows the original and the copy (the latter is the brighter one with a small white line on top in this gif).
