And of course that colour scheme immediately reminded me of my all-time favourite painting, Tiger by Franz Marc (1880-1916). This masterpiece dates back to 1912, 4 years before his death at the battle of Verdun. I had the privilege to watch the original in the Stadtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus, Munich. An awe inspiring experience, and together with the other expressionist works in that highly recommended museum, one of the main reasons for my switch from impressionism to expressionism as my favourite genre.
