Love of my Life

One of the photography genres that I have not really tried out is model photography. The only model I have photographed is my lovely wife. For today's post I have picked a dozen of my favourite shots of her. Seeing these combined, maybe I should do a bit more of this type of photography actually. The photograph above is a selfie of the two of us that I took on top of the New Tower in Kampen in the summer of 2013.

Shadows

This is probably the first photograph of my wife I have shared on the web way back when.  If I remember correctly, I took this in Enkhuizen, around 2007. For a long time this was also my computer's wallpaper.

Idols

I took this picture on New Year's day 2008 in a shop for modern interior design in Naarden (the Netherlands). The almost oversized version of Bull's Garbo poster on the wall, juxtaposed with my wife's look at her makes for a strong shot that has received a lot of reactions on Flickr, including second prize in a Worldwide Photo Club competition.

And in other news......

This was in 2009 in a small restaurant in Putten, where the decoration consisted of a framed tableau of newspapers.

Photographing the photographer

My wife is a professional artist (painting), having graduated from the Shanghai and Beijing Fine Art universities. She is also a keen photographer, and I caught her here in the act. This is on the inside square of Blois Castle near the Loire in France in 2009.

A Shot for the Millions

Around 2010 my wife worked for many months per year in Shanghai. On one of my visits I took this picture of her in her atelier. When she was interviewed for the Shanghai free daily newspaper, she selected this shot for the article - so millions of Shanghainese must have seen it.

April in Paris

This shot was taken at the Pont des Arts in Paris in April 2010. My wife is showing off a hat she bought earlier that day.....

Chinese Rembrandt

A shot taken during the 2013 Christmas celebrations in Kampen. As part of the two-day festivities, in which the atmosphere of centuries gone by is recreated, she dressed up like this and painted in the window of our gallery. The title is based on remarks from passers-by that I overheard.

Princess in Elburg

This was shot at the 2013 Christmas celebration in the old city of Elburg, near Kampen. She is wearing a hat that she designed and made herself, a new dimension to her artistic endeavors (she calls it wearable art).

Dreaming

Showing off one of her own creations - taken near Kampen on a bicycle tour in 2014. This hat is one of the latest in the series of what she calls "wearable art", produced by felting mixtures of Merino wool, silk and other fabrics.

Workplace

Not a particularly outstanding photograph, but it includes my wife, our gallery (left) and the beautiful location of it. I took it in 2018.

The princess and the castle

My lovely wife in front of the Ruurlo Castle (now in use as a fine art museum) on a beautiful summer's day in 2018.

 Relax

This is one of my favourite pictures of my wife, shot early 2019 while she was relaxing in a restaurant in nearby Hattem.
